The challenge
CVs and interviews say little about what a candidate can actually do. TestZebra wanted a self-service platform with a library of reliable tests, fair conditions for candidates and results a hiring team can act on — sold by credits or subscription, in several languages.
What we did
- Built the platform as a monorepo of React apps — the test runner, company dashboard, admin, sign-in and website — on a NestJS and PostgreSQL backend.
- Created coding challenges that run candidates’ code in isolated Docker containers across several languages, with automatic input/output checks and AI-generated reference solutions.
- Added a test builder for custom tests, anti-cheating signals and cognitive reports for comparing candidates.
- Integrated Stripe credits and subscriptions with automatic invoicing through Fakturoid, and a public API with embeddable results for partner integrations.
- Shipped the product in English, Slovak and Czech, together with the marketing website and documentation.
The result
TestZebra runs at testzebra.com with a library of 57 expert-made tests, custom tests, coding challenges and integrations for recruitment tools.
